Although I think I typically keep my opinions private; I thought I should at least mention my distaste for "busy" work. This is anything that makes me feel like I'm wasting my time, and is artificially prolonging the game. I don't think everything in this game should be streamlined(easily obtainable) especially not tiered items like gear, or that you should change any or everything i mention. Just keep it in mind.
-zombie night. It lasts 4 minutes, and i hate it, all of it. I would rather it be an event(something the players trigger).
-killing hellboy's palisades, honestly I think the stamina obtained from palisades should be a little nerfed, but that's just me. No! that's not the busy work. the "busy" work is having to chop down 25 art single palisades to prevent hellboy from obtaining map control/early warning which so he can run for an extra 40 minutes. To be honest I don't know what you should do here. You could either reduce the incentive of spamming these annoying things all over the map by reducing the stamina gained from them, or you could strip them of their armor when they're alone(but this just makes the users just place them adjacent, but then you could just make it so you need 3 connected to give armor(i cant think of a single situation where you have only 2 connecting palisades(I'm probably stupid)), you could do both and kill that mechanic and force the artisan user to spam fires, or tents all over the place instead.
-winter, although I don't mind it too much. Winter typically makes people act as if its zombie night where leaving base is unadvised. Except in winter it can be deadly. Personally i like winter, but it does stop nearly everyone in their tracks.
-cooking/crafting, like i mentioned this can be good for the game as i really don't want to see every game become a quick tech game making all but high art gear used. But when everything you add had a timer attached to it(there was fishing, long timer, there was sirloins, long timer, there was crafting, long timer, and now there's potions, LONG TIMER) Not everyone knows, but you can do things while you're on a timer: like buying/selling, rearranging resources, observing your allies and enemies, likewise strategizing. But to most people its just a time out bar for when they can enjoy the game again. I don't think you should "fix" this as its important that it exists, but please think of other things to balance a source of power than a timer in the future.
-over time damage(OTD), this is indirect busy work. Yes you have to use your combo in the right order(afflict, hit(poison), disease, etc). But in order to do that, you need to prepare. Not just the caster, but the target as well. You need to prepare both by making potions/teching to willpower gear/mining for the money to obtain the arbelest(or whatever your build requires, which mining is the fastest way to make money). So yes this is me repeating myself when referring to cooking/crafting, but people wouldn't be doing so much of that if OTD wasn't so effective. It also dragges out fights, which can be exciting, but dull as there are few ways to deal with OTD(cleansing draught D:).
-harvesting, I hope if you do take this to heart to be more careful with this than all the previous. Although people throw a shit storm over RNG(random elements of the game in their relationship to you), and how it affects gameplay, for some reason they can tolerate the RNG of picking a berry bush, or what they get from fishing. I'm not mentioning this because i want it to change, since with recent updates you have a degree of control over what you get by choosing when you gather, but in the future can you pretty please think on this a little more(you probably already do, I'm only including this because its still "busy work" and im out of ideas). So make this a little more manipulatable. For instance fishing sucks, its the biggest time sink in the game, so maybe make intelligence boost its speed somehow(please dont), mining can be slow unless you specialize for it, so make strength give you a boost(please dont), oh berry picking speed is absolutely garbage unless you have at least 7-10 foraging, why not have dexterity make this a little more bearable(please dont), oh and endurance, well it already does a lot, but why not have it affect mining drain. Oh? wait it already does?(I learn).
-a proper tutorial, tuthfully the biggest time waster/ best part of the game is learning it. Some people will love this experience, i don't remember if I did(its too traumatic). Although its a lot to ask, and we the community are also to blame for this, but can we please have a tutorial to point to so we don't have to suffer training noobs(at least I do. Sometimes)
