Hey guys. I want share an idea that came to me today after been abused in a lobby by a bad host. So, I was in a game where it was 4v4 and it was filling. it seemed to be okay balance, really more or less.... Anyhow, but the host for some reason moved players around and went 4 vs 8. I was thinking that this was so rude and that it should be change. There is no way we can keep this if we can have the option of leaving the game even after the host hit start. In this way, the leaver could leave or could come back to ask for a balance game. There are other games such as star battle that have setup in this way for this particular reason. Moreover, the feedback are positive and the community somehow seems to aprove this way to prevent trolling from mofos host. Don't get me wrong after all these years playing vs stack team I got better but also bitter. And I have to thanks all this to hellboy, who I had to faced to his stacking so many times. Lol. Anyhow. Please aprove this idea. Sorry for typos. Love you all. Peace in the world.

If I remember correctly, the one who stacked teams 4v8 were you, when you put 4 good players against horatio and 7 noobs... Nonetheless, it proves your point, sometimes the host just is an a**hole or simply afk, which can lead to very unbalanced teams. I think your solution might be the easiest one. Not sure how exactly this works, but I guess the starting countdown is simply interupted whenever someone leaves, is that correct?

Hey Lorenor, yes the countdown gets interrupted every time someone leaves... And btw there is a way to kick players at the beginning of a game after it started but it has to be by voting, and it has to be unanimous... This could be too much but yes for now my solution is going to help us with some balancing. I'm happy you like this idea... I'm looking forward testing the map.

would it be relatively easy to do in the editor to auto-distribute the players if at the start a majority vote called for it? either randomly or base on some bank statistic?

Auto balance was introduced at some point, and produced the most insane stacks at times. So it was removed after a month or so. The best way to get balanced teams is to organize in-house games.

I had a concept in mind that would probably solve this problem, just not sure if it ever would be used: Next to the "ready" button on the starting screen, there could be a "rebalance" button. If a certain amount of players presses "rebalance" (let's say 1/3rd of the players), an automatic draft pick will start, similar to the one broot made once but then removed it because it took way to long, especially with new players who have no idea what they are doing anyway (if you don't know what I'm talking about, it was basically just an automated inhouse draft with two captains).
It's a little more complicated than the way Locuaz suggested, but I think definitely a better option than just an auto-balance function.

I think this is a terrible solution to a non-existing problem. Imagine how 1/3 of the lobby now can hold up a game because they are not happy with the teams. What if the lobby fills fast? Now there will be multiple lobbies because some whiners clicked rebalance. What if host wants to wait for 8 players before he balances, and in the meanwhile the 3 noobs on team 1 click rebalance because there was temporarily 3 pros on team 2? Here is my suggestion: Leave it like it is,and let people grow up.

I think there's a misunderstanding, the rebalance button would be on the starting screen, not the lobby. So it's impossible that multiple lobbies are created by this function, in fact, it's quite the opposite. In a really unbalanced game, some players oftentimes leave the game instantly and make a new lobby, which could be avoided if there was a way to balance the game after the host started it. What this is supposed to be is a way to reduce how much an unexperienced, afk or troll host can screw up a game. If only one or two people are unhappy with the teams, they won't be able to reach the required votes (if 30% is not enough, let it be 40 or 50%). But I had games in which basically every more or less expererienced player agreed that it was just plain imbalanced. So instead of having to remake the game, probably loosing half of the players who prefer staying in the game, we could just press "rebalance" to spend one or two extra minutes for balancing, which is probably way less than we would need for a completely new lobby to fill in case of a remake.

With ur idea Lorenor, a simplified one that just gives the ability to balance to the player who has the most wins would be good since sometimes the host is a newb who just doesnt listen to people and doesnt give the host to someone experienced.

Hey, I'm glad more ideas are coming in about this topic! I'm not saying not to anything , we should try asap this new idea lore has brought to articulate. And yes the point mainly is to stop trollers to hit go with unbalance team not just in level of skills but also in count numbers.... This could work better let's try it!

I think there's a misunderstanding, the rebalance button would be on the starting screen, not the lobby. That's what I had in mind as well - while others can pick perks/skills/etc. it's a good time for a vote - I wouldn't necessarily suggest always giving it to the highest rep player, as a single player can still troll, or atleast not without some sort of vote
