There are items in the game that hold a much higher 'usefulness' factor than other items in the game. Certain equipments are only viable, with another specific set of equipments. The only real way to understand this power difference, is through gameplay. And compared to the grand scheme of games played, my own game count is not enough to account for all these details although I try to touch up the ones that I do recognize.
I would like to hear your truth about your most favorite and least favorite equipments - as well as equipments you're not sure about.
===============================================================
If you've ever played in a game with me, the following builds I feel very comfortable with.
===============================================================
Celestial Orb
Mysterious Spoon
Leather Coat
A very supportive set that you can build in under 12 minutes (at earliest around 7) with some spells and food. It's nice to have with a team mate who is doing a semi-early engagement (around 8~15 min mark). Even just being able to sustain another kobold's durability is just fun to me.
Talons of the Pilferer
Boneshard Blade/Abysmal Claw
Phantom Cape
Powdered Flask
The only real way to build mid-early game (under 15 min) with crit damage. Of course it falls out of power late game and against certain items - the damage is lackluster. But it is very fun to steal and harass your enemies.
Elder Wand
Vengeful Murloc Skull
Leather Coat/Warlocks Vestments
Boy, this is a build I had to re-experience recently. Although I've seen it before, I have to admit I've never really understood it's true strength until a few days ago. It's a very reliable source of damage and you can easily build this under 10 minutes with spells and food. It has everything - the attack damage and spell damage. It's just a cookie cutter build. I'm not quite sure how to play against this combination - other than to have a team ambush ready. But really this set burns through an entire kobold in a couple hits early game. There have been times where I've dominated an entire team early game just because of it's power.
Rough Blunderbuss
Iron Banded Buckler
Huntsmans Jacket
A fairly newb friendly build that I've seen many experienced players use. It allows ranged attacking with some form of durability - a healthy ratio of offense to defense.
Poacher's Bow
Crow Keepers Bracers
Huntsmans Jacket
Marksman Perk
Another similar build that is slightly stronger, but less durable than the previous build. You can chunk out some real damage with some trophy stacks from a long range.
Twin Throwing Axes
Skirmisher's Harness
An interesting build that really requires good execution to pull off. You can do some intense damage at lower health and turn the tides of battle. You can also out run most kobolds thanks to the actives.
Judgment Gavel
Heavy Tower Shield
Heavy Iron Breastplate
One of the tankiest sets obviously, although I feel KT really lacks in the tanking department. Sometimes it's fun to outlast your enemy with tons of durability and forestry.
There are more sets that I do like, but I don't have much to say about them except I like to play them and they are in a good position (so I think).
========================
These are the items I don't use often.
========================
Berserker's Battle Axe - The rush is nice, I see great synergy with forestry builders as well. But I tend to just avoid this item all in all, it just feels a little mundane for combat.
Golden Hauberk - No Comment.
Dreadplate Armor - My least favorite 25 art in the game, yes you can do a tide turning strategy but it just seems so lackluster outside the fear.
All in all, I'm just not so fond of armors and their value in game. An item can boost the damage you output by anywhere from 15% to 100+% but the most amount of damage reduction you can get from an item is about 20%. And that's with the BEST of them; there's no casual way to build up durability without it being useful enough in combat.
This is what I have in store for now, but I will continue to add to this list. Feel free to prove me wrong and vent - but keep it to this thread.
